Project Analysis and Community Impact
The Better Me, Better World Project was designed to support children in foster care through fundraising, community engagement, education, mentorship, and advocacy. While the project began as an academic requirement, it quickly evolved into an opportunity to examine how community-driven efforts can create meaningful change. Reflecting on the project’s outcomes has allowed me to evaluate its effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and better understand the impact that service-oriented leadership can have on both individuals and communities.
One of the project’s primary objectives was to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children in foster care. Many people are unfamiliar with the realities of the foster care system and the difficulties foster youth often experience, including frequent placement changes, emotional trauma, educational disruptions, and limited access to supportive resources. Through educational outreach and community discussions, the project helped bring attention to these issues and encouraged community members to consider how they could contribute to positive outcomes for foster children.
Increasing awareness proved to be one of the project’s most important accomplishments.
